Mission Trips

Each year, CrossRoads offers several opportunites to serve on mission trips outside of Hamilton County. Besides "serving the least of these" as Jesus commanded, we believe that mission trips are a great impetus for personal spiritual growth.

2016 Trips:

TRIP LOCATION: Garnett, Kansas.

DESCRIPTION - Partnering with Group Mission Trips, our middle and high school students along with adult advisors did home repairs in this smaller mid-western town of 3,400 people.

TRIP LOCATION: San José , Costa Rica

DESCRIPTION: Since 2010, CrossRoads has partnered with Portantorchas, a Bible School in San José , to serve the local community. Each year, our work project is different, but over the years we have worked with orphan and disadvantaged children, painted a school, built a bathroom, drywalled a church, and completed other projects to serve God and share the love of Jesus with those in Costa Rica. Join us as we work in this very needy area of San Jose.

DESCRIPTION: Serving with Group Mission Trip , memebrs of CrossRoeads served near Charlestonb, WV doing home repairs and painting for people in need.

CrossRoads has also offered the following trips:

TRIP LOCATION: Mifflintown, Pennsylvania - Serving at a Group Workcamp 2014

DESCRIPTION: Nestled in the scenic mountains of Central Pennsylvania, Mifflintown and the surrounding Juniata County offer history and outdoor activities to those who visit. Rich in natural beauty, this area provides its visitors with hiking, biking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, and water sports amid untainted rolling ridges, clear waters, and vast fields. Steeped in Native American, early American, Civil War, and farming history, Mifflintown still has an active Pennsylvania Dutch culture if you want a glimpse of simpler times. The only traffic delay is from occasional farm machinery or an Amish buggy. In this quiet place lives a large population of retired residents living on fixed incomes, and many families compete for the rare minimum wage jobs that pop up. Home repairs take a back seat to more immediate needs like food and utilities. Most of the area’s residents have known no other home but the one they live in currently. For a week, we made this lovely place our home caring for the residents by doing simple home repairs.

TRIP LOCATION: Nashville, Tennessee - Serving at a Group Week of Hope - 2014

DESCRIPTION: For a week we took in the creativity, and soul of Nashville -- the country music capital of the world. This city is home to Music Row, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Nashville is buzzing with life thanks to the Nashville Zoo, Nashville Shores Waterpark, the Music City Trolley Hop, and the Music City Marketplace.Although there’s a lot to see and do in Nashville, the community also has an intertwined diversity of highs and lows. Walk down one street past million-dollar homes and around the next corner you’ll see low-income housing. About 13 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. People try to live off minimum wage in a city where you need two or three times that wage to survive. Homelessness statistics are 20 to 30 percent higher than the national average. For a week we served in a variety of community agencies helping them serve others.

TRIP LOCATION: Charlotte, North Carolina - Serving at the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Processing Facility - December 2013

DESCRIPTION: Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 100 million shoebox gifts to children throughout the world since 1993. On this mission trip, participants got to inspect, prepare, and pray for shoeboxes before sending them out to begin their journeys across the globe to children. In addition to volunteer duties, participants were greatly blessed by hearing stories of how shoeboxes have shown the love of God to children in over 130 countries and influenced them for Christ.
